HOW TO GET THERE

TRAVEL & TRANSPORT INFORMATION

There are many ways to make your way to Masters of Puppets Festival this summer. Please keep in mind that audience travel makes up a big chunk of our festival's carbon footprint. If you can, opt to travel via:

  • A method of public transport

  • Our official festival shuttle buses

  • Lift sharing

If you're coming by car and have a spare seat, you can post it on our new official lift share Facebook group. If you're driving, please remember there is ZERO tolerance for driving under the influence of alcohol or other substances in Czechia.

Tolls

In Czechia, there are general and mandatory road tolls. We strongly recommend that you pay the tolls otherwise you could be fined 350 Euros.

Public Transport within Czechia

Getting to Valeč

Château Valeč · Široká 39, 364 53 Valeč, Karlovy Vary Region

Valeč is a small village in western Bohemia. The nearest major hub is Karlovy Vary, from which a regional bus takes you to the village. Always confirm the final Karlovy Vary → Valeč connection at idos.cz before travel, as regional timetables change seasonally.

From Prague · 3–4 hours total

1. Take Metro Line C one stop from Praha hlavní nádraží to Florenc, or walk (~15 min).

2. From Florenc Bus Station, take a direct bus to Karlovy Vary (~2 hrs 15 min). Operated by RegioJet or FlixBus.

3. At Karlovy Vary, transfer to a regional bus to Valeč.

Train alternative: Direct train from Praha hlavní nádraží to Karlovy Vary (~3.5 hrs, České dráhy), then regional bus to Valeč. Total around 4–5 hours.

Public Transport from
nearby capital cities

From Vienna · 7–8 hours total

1. Take a direct Railjet from Wien Hauptbahnhof to Prague (~4 hrs 15–30 min).

2. Continue from Prague: Florenc → Karlovy Vary → Valeč.

Alternative: Vienna → Cheb → Karlovy Vary by train, then bus to Valeč. Valid but involves more changes and is rarely faster.

From Berlin · 7–8 hours total

1. Take a direct EuroCity train from Berlin Hauptbahnhof to Prague (~4.5 hrs). Six departures daily.

2. Continue from Prague: Florenc → Karlovy Vary → Valeč.

Via Dresden: The EuroCity already stops in Dresden — you can break the journey there, but it won’t shorten your overall trip to Valeč.
